There are times when events are going on your life and it just cannot be explained. Open your EYES and let the music speak for what is occurring. Music like this does not come easily. The radio is controlled and it is perferred that music listeners are not asking questions after hearing these songs. Let them open your mind and ask questions, not let someone answer them for you.
The next video is very upfront, so i will have to give you a little warning for that. Listen to this one and read the lyrics in front of you. The original video was deleted due to the topic. See for yourself what is going on. Made in 2008 so before the recent events on catching Osama Bin Laden.
Don't be worried. We will continue to blog music after the response we received as a grade from the professor. My love (Marco Cervantes) for music cannot leave me and I must continue to provide the community with what music the people should be listening to.
It is now May and that means majority of students are crunching in the study time for the school year. The studying portion of finals is very difficult when the action of studying itself is already dull. Music is a great way of soothing the mind to prepare material for studying purposes. Music that makes you want to get up and dance is exactly what we would like to assist our listeners with.
The first track of the post sounds very dark in the beginning, but it only keeps you envying for more as you become curious in how the beat continues to flow. Genesis by Justice is great introduction to begin the studying with its entrance beat. As a listener, let me know what you think of this style of beat. I only ask as it does have a small form of dark type music, but it does provide quality.
The Island by Pendulum is the next song worth raving about. The song is mostly found broken up into two parts. The Island is just under ten minutes of audio.Part one is very calm and up beat with some vocal portions. The beat drops really hard once it gets to the second part of the track. The Island and its two portions give it diversification in the world of clubbing music. Hear for yourself.
Recently I have been hearing my audiophiles mention of Skrillex and after listening to my last.fm station, I ran into a great track. Hey Sexy Lady(Skrillex remix)-i SQUARE is a great artist that has the ability to produce some great Dubstep. After listening, the sensation of messing with a sound mixer will move with your body.
Also Performing: One Be Lo, Aceyalone, and The Shotgun Wedding Quintet
The time is almost here for the show in Los Angeles and five years later the collaboration is stronger than ever. Originally Zion I & The Grouch used a true Underground Rap feel, but they have evolved from that including reggae, electronica, and even a jazz rhythm. The positive thought of the album keeps the stage alive in times of hardship. For most, Silly Puddy was the route to enter the wave of good music. Amp Live of Zion I will electrify the beats to a majority of the songs which you cannot purchase. One Be Lo and Aceyalone perform real Underground Rap, and The Shotgun Wedding Quintet will mix it up with a mix of Jazz and Rap. Join us Tuesday April 26th at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The entrance is $20 with a portion of the ticket sales being donated to J.U.I.C.E.
The video below is a Freestyle session with DJ Amp Live Producing LIVE as well as a Dub Step intro using his new MPC/Guitar
Yes they may be Underground music artists, but they are featured on movies and video games. "One"" was featured on the movie Step Up 3D
Working with Zion I has given the Original Grounds Music blog the ability to tap into the underground music scene to diversify your music library. The live performances of Zion I are not available for purchase as DJ Amp Live is the producer and has the ability to change up the songs a bit to give the concerts an original feel. The work of DJ Amp Live has given OGmusic the ability to provide those limited track mixes to you at a minimal nominal fee of $5 a complete mix. Music artists are continuing to only provide Original Grounds Music with the limited mixes and tracks and we are here to provide. The $5 is used to help keep up the blog and we give you a personal download of limited work by music artists. We have included the ability to donate more if you wish, but the minimal fee is all we ask from our listeners. Thank You for your interest and OGmusic will continue to Diversify Your Music Library!
We just can't get enough of Black Eyed Peas! Their new song called "Just Can't Get Enough" is their newest song on the radio. The beat is original. It is calm, soothing, and simple. The hook that Fergie sings is very catchy. Her voice is electronically changed, but is still sexy like always. like how towards the end, they added a little techno remix. It was unexpected, but very exciting to hear. Also, great lyrics by everyone in the crew.
Black Eyed Peas is an amazing group. They have their own style that can not be explained with words. They don't follow trends, but they do make their own unique way to express music. They are the one group that must be listened to.
Ironically this music video was filmed in Japan a week before the tsunami. Much love for the people of Japan and other countries that were affected by the disaster.
The new Zion I & The Grouch album is now available and ready to purchase. Your music library deserves this quality music. After running through the album, I confirm my continued love for the projects Zion I delivers. The Underground Rap album provides true to life lyrics with a variety of music styles. Catch some reggae, guitar, electro, and Spanish. Incorporation of other music styles doesn't sound like such a great idea. Zion I & The Grouch ensure that their work is appreciated by the non-rap fans. The plan is executed very well. Healing of the Nation has the positive vibe that rap has needed with all the events occurring early in 2011. Want to check them out LIVE? Remember Zion I & The Grouch will be performing April 26th 2011 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The Shotgun Wedding Quintet will be opening the show for them. Did you notice on the picture above has the LRG Clothing Company? Yup Lifted Research Group sponsors The Grouch and will be selling a special The Grouch hat which has a "G" on the front of the cap using LRG font. There will be music fans of all sorts, so come and join the show of SPRING.
Is the radio still continuing to deliver overplayed songs that eventually become soo repetitive that you wish to stop listening to it? Here is what you should be listening to.
I will have to agree that LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem has the right beat going on. Play this when your are driving or when you have the need to SHUFFLE!! I have the official music video below since I think the intro is worth watching.
Next up is Afrojack. He is able to produce a very nice and fluid beat with its transitions. The first video is mainly a beat while the second one is something to sing to.
MASTRKRFT's Heart Breaker is a very good track as well. I have decided to post on this update the Laidback Luke remix, since I believe that it feels a lot more livelier than the original song. Feel free to also check out the original song so you can hear the difference.
Ahhh yes The Black Keys. For you individuals with the refined taste of music, you may have heard of the Black Keys. You may have also heard that they also won a Grammy. Crazy. Crazy as in crazy awesome, seeing as they were completely deserving of it. What they were not deserving of was no air time on the Grammys. Subsequently many have not yet heard the music of The Black Keys. This could just be my multitude of lame friends who are too lame, and haven't listened to them. Regardless, this is a travesty. Thus I take it upon myself the burden of spreading the good word.
Where to begin with The Black Keys? Don't answer that. It's rhetorical, its my post, of course I know where Im going to start. With that I segue into their members: Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. Allow me to succintly describe the two in analogy format. Dan Auerbach:No Glasses :: Patrick Carney:Glasses. Thats about all you need to know. I apologize if my description was a little bit wordy, but I felt I really needed the detail. With all tihs unfulfilled space, maybe I'll go into some extraneous details about them. Dan Auerbach is the guitarist, and Patrick Carney is the drummer, pretty simple at that. Now if you did quick Google search you may find their newest album, Brothers. An excellent album, but do not be confused they are not in fact brothers, simply bandmates. I'm not a sure a single human womb could hold their dual awesomeness over any space of time.
Now, I may have built up the two quite a bit, and maybe gone a little overboard, and you may be wondering my warrants for why their music is so good. Their music is great, because they took the simple concept of blues, and reinvigorated it, not to denigrate the whole genre of blues by calling it "simple." For blues, its the structure itself that is very simple, the very structured pattern and rhythmic music that makes it easy to learn and easy to follow, however its what people can do within that structure that makes Blues such an enduring genre. You see a lot of that with the Black Keys, the heavy blues structure, heavy deep rhythms, but reinvigorated with distorted guitar, drums pumped to 11, and whatnot. Basically the formula for the Black Keys is thus: You take Blues, add some heavy guitar, great drumming, Dan's vocals, you slap on a sweet beard (a beard that Dan has shaved much to my dismay), and you've got the Black Keys. The music they play is so vastly different from what we hear on the radio today, and it's not just shades different from other music. Its out there. Even in the all inclusive umbrella of "indie music." Its a refreshing taste of excellent music, and all jokes aside you ought give thema lookthrough.
Plus the Black Keys have some of the most subtlely hilarious videos ever.
Today is the release of "Heroes in the Healing of the Nation" by Zion I & The Grouch. It is also the release of the "Rockit Man" music video. The music video is purely art from a visual stand point. The video is perfect for the song and its lyrics. "Rockit Man" is a song that focuses on being the best of yourself. It feels like a part of meditation. It's the song that you currently need in this current time when we are having political affairs and natural disasters. See for yourself!
Make your plans to attend the concert!
The details are below for the Orange and LA Counties.
Hip-Hop artist, Nate Dogg, died March 15, 2010 due to an unknown cause. He was an icon of the hip-hop world. His smooth voice and lyrical gift gave him 4 Grammy nominations throughout his career. He was only 41 when he passed away and suffered from several strokes in recent years, in 2007 and 2008. Although he had wrote some offensive songs, we still love him for his originality. Let’s take a moment and listen to some of Nate's famous songs (and my favorites) that he left us with. In memory of Nate Dogg.
Ahhh Paul Simon. Many of you might not know who this is. Part of that is because you may know him better as the Simon in "Simon and Garfunkel." Simon and Garfunkel in and of themselves were a great band that had a great influence when they were together. I could write an article about them, but to do so would probably waste your time. Plenty of people already know who they are, that's certainly not the pressing issue at hand here. The real issue is people don't know who Paul Simon is. A real travesty. The Simon is always inexorably tied to this famous duo, as if he was forever plagues by Garfunkel's looming afro. However Paul Simon's solo career has a lot of great music, that you should definitely give a try.
Now the music of Simon and Garfunkel definitely had a lot of levity to it. You know songs about adultery, boxing, the pleasures of being a rock ( and a song I'm ALMOST certain is about masturbation), all that fun stuff. Though you get a hint of that more serious song writing with songs like "Sounds of Silence", you do get the general air happy-go-lucky songwriting in a lot of them. I would argue when Paul Simon came into his own, his songwriting adapted a much more serious tone especially in his first album. No more ditties about the wonders of adultery, nay nay good sir, only those sweet sweet songs that reek of sadness and quiet desperation. Although that's not to essentialize the entirety of Paul Simon's solo career. Its not to say that the whole of his solo career lacked any sunshine and happiness. Songs like "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" and "Kodachrome" still had that lighter tone to them. However I would consider these different form his regular solo songwriting.
Personally I like this shift in songwriting Paul Simon exercises. For you cerebral types who actually listen to the lyrics (preposterous!), his subject material gets a lot more serious as well. Paul Simon starts write songs about the self-destructive path of drug abuse, the journey of a boy to a man, the sadness of overwhelmingly large cities, the quiet desperation of lost love, and so many more great songs. If nothing else, completely disregard cvery word I've said and just listen to some of his songs. (Oh one more thing. Is it just me or is Garfunkel a weird name? I mean seriously, say that shit out loud. It just sounds out loud, why doesn't anyone mention this!?)
Gonzolandia Records supports a couple up-and-coming bands typically based out of Austin, Texas. These bands include: Deadman, Amplified Heat, David Hidalgo & Louie Perez, and Trey Brown & Mission Dorado. These bands provide a very hearty, southern rock feel that digs deep into the emotions of the listener. Gonzolandia Records' website is http://gonzolandia.com/ . Be sure to check out their merchandise and other music! All of the artists websites are embeded with their music so it is easy to play and listen to!
Deadman Deadman is a band of six men creating a very distinguishable sound by incorporating southern, country rock with gospel style music. They are currently working on an album but their live album and vinyl record is available on their website. Their music consists largely of gospel style singing and music, which tugs at the heart strings of many. If you get the chance, they play a lot of Austin, Texas and are definitely worth seeing live. You can find their merchandise and other music on http://deadmanonline.com/ . Here is a little clip for you guys!
Amplified Heat Amplified Heat was started and consists of the Ortiz brothers who all got together to form this almost country (and much quieter) version of Black Sabbath. They have a southern rock feel with a touch of punk and some hard rock. They are out promoting their new album call On The Hunt. They are playing throughout Texas so, if the opportunity arises, this band is notorious for playing great shows. Being that they like to play some blues tunes yet try to keep a "garage band"-like feel, they aim to please the crowd and make the show exciting. Their website is http://www.amplifiedheat.com/ and here is a clip of theirs. Enjoy!
David Hidalgo & Louie Perez David Hidalgo & Louie Perez, aka Latin Playboys, have been playing together for a long time and play their interesting, yet distinguishable music intricately and smoothly. They play a mix of Latin music incorporated with some southern rock. The smooth guitar work creates a very interesting vibe that sucks the listener into the music. The music the progresses into a kind of gospel style. They are not currently promoting an album but still have the albums Dose and Latin Playboys available. Here is their website and a clip of them on The Conan O'Brien Show! http://www.latinplayboys.org/
Trey Brown & Mission Dorado Trey Brown & Mission Dorado are a very mellow southern gospel rock. This acoustic music creates an ambience that can relax even the most ecstatic of things. They are providing a vinyl on their website and are working on more material. Here is their website which includes recording of their songs! http://treybrown.net/
How important is confidence to you? At what point does over-confidence become a turn-off? Let’s look at it from a lyrical perspective and see which female artist you (given you are into ladies) would date. Just like that old show Room Raiders on MTV, let’s just say that you have no idea who these lovely ladies are…who would you datebased on just their lyrics to these songs and the confidence they exhibit? [Song selection based on March 5th, 2011’s America’s Top 40 chart] 1) Keri Hilson – Pretty Girl Rock 2) Rihanna – Only Girl in the World 3) Miranda Cosgrove – Dancing Crazy 4) Lady Gaga – Born This Way 5) Britney Spears – Hold it Against Me
Now that you have heard all of our lovely ladies, which artist would you date?
Ever listen to reggae music? Most people only know of Bob Marley. Wouldn't you like to listen to present time artists worthy of mentioning? In the beginning of 2010 while helping out Zion I, I discovered what was being missed out on. Zion I was actually touring with reggae artists Rebelution and SOJA (Soldiers of Jah Army). I never knew how amazing a live reggae performance would sound. You can catch it at your nearby "House of Blues" venue.
The first song I have to take a second to say thank you SOJA. After day one of helping out Zion I at the Downtown Disney House of Blues, I followed up with them and acknowledged how amazing the music was even though reggae music was not on the top of my list. Jacob of SOJA liked my feedback and gave me a free CD for the comment and providing assistance for Zion I. The music video is perfect for the message for the song. Take a look for yourself!
-SOJA is from Washington D.C.
Rebelution was the main set for the tour. Their ability to sell out shows explains for itself the fan base they have established. The band is from the Santa Barbara, CA area.
Towards the end of 2010, Zion I released the Atomic Clock album. Rebelution teamed up with the rap duo for a revolutionary track known as "Many Styles." After listening to this song I thought to myself, "How can you separate yourself from any other music artist." The answer is the music video below. Do something ORIGINAL!
I thought I would finish this update with a Zion I remix of Rebelution's "Safe and Sound." Music artists of different genres can collaborate successfully, be the next one!
It's time for an update on what tracks are hot for the Dance,House, and Electronica music scene for this weeks partying. The first track is featured on MTV's "The Buried Life." After listening to it didn't you want to find out what the song was? Well it was actually DJ Amp Live of Zion I. The song is "Chick Pop" off of the Murder at the Discotech album that is a mix of electronic and other similar music forms. It's a slower song, but it delivers.
The next song I cannot rave enough about is Wolfgang Gartner's-"Montezuma (Will Bailey & Mikey Hook Mix." If you love to shuffle, this is the song to show your dance skills to your friends and others that you would love to impress. The beat slowly starts up and then Montezuma takes control with the perfect beat and speed.
The last track is by Wynter Gordon,"Dirty Talk." Below the video is David Guetta feat. Wynter Gordon-Dirty talk (Laidback Luke Remix). A variety of artists for the clubbing scene for this post, stay tuned for more updates as OGmusic kicks off in delivering the newest music to the true music fans. Original Grounds music
Recently, the song “Moment 4 Life” by Nicki Manaj featuring Drake has been playing frequently on the radio. Nicki, a talented new hip-hop artist, shows her skills in both singing and rapping in this new single. Although her style is mainly rapping, she proves the media that she is capable of singing also. She sings the chorus with great passion. You can feel her expression of life, and can be easily inspired when she sings “This is my moment I waited all my life, I can tell it's time. Drifting away I'm one with the sunset…” (starting at 3:35 of the song). Her singing is impressive, especially knowing that she is a rapper. She is a natural singer and also a talented rapper.
Through her rapping, she makes strong statements throughout the song, given her experience. She claims to be a king in the beginning of the song: “In this very moment I’m king”. This statement of hers is one of power creating a superiority/inferiority complex between hers and her listeners. She also replaces herself with David from the bible saying, “In this very moment I slayed Goliath with a sling”. Here, she claims to be David, challenging the words of the bible by substituting herself, which is going against religion and also breaks through politically correct barriers that other mainstream rappers follow. Her lyrics and style are very risky for the public radio, but expresses strong words that define the meaning of life through her eyes.
For simplicity of listening to this song, here is the “Moment 4 Life” music video below:
As one of the authors on this site I think its important for you the readers to get to know me. Now, I could go on a long conversation about how I love dogs, enjoy long walks on the beach, ancient pagan traditions blah blah blah blah. Or I can stop wasting your time and really get to the meat of the issue: music. I think a great way to guage anyone's taste in music is by their favorite band. For moi that is none other than one of the most timeless bands of all times: The Beatles.
Ah yes The Beatles. Arguably one of the most popular bands of all time (and if you ask me the best, but that's just me), and I could argue that they're still underrated. Before you flip your lid and begin your tirade, where you start with: "What!? Romin, you noob. How can one of the most popular bands also be underrated!? Only noobs commit logical paradoxes!" Well unwrap your bunched panties, and allow me to explain. There's no question that The Beatles are not underrated in sheer number of fans, no debate. It's also true that The Beatles were extremely prolific, but their prolificness unfortunately causes a lot of people to miss out on many of their hidden gems. When people imagine The Beatles the image is undoubtedly tied to their string of number one hits and their earlier brit pop phase. This is all well and good if missing out on some of the greatest music of all time is your cup of tea (this joke is appropriate because they're british! Two points for me).
This year, we are seeing a lot of hot artists coming out to the public radio. We are seeing a lot of original artists from the 90's merging back into the mainstream game such Enrique Iglesias- "Tonight (I'm loving you)", Britney Spears- "Hold it Against Me", Nelly- "Just a Dream", Usher- "DJ got us Falling in Love", and much more. We also see a lot of talented young artists making it too such as Nicki Minaj and Drake- "Moment 4 Life",Far East Movement- "Rocketeer" and "Like a G6 ", Mann- "Buzzin", just to list a few. The combination of all the new and old artists keep the music alive and moving through the ears of the public with excitement. The top 20 songs for this week is as followed (from http://www.kiisfm.com/cc-common/top20/usa_today/?fmt_id=Rhythmic):
The next big thing coming out of the Underground Rap scene is the album release of the follow up to Zion I & The Grouch "Heroes In the City Of Dope." For those that are not familiar with Zion I & The Grouch, they are from Oakland California. The Grouch is on the far right and Zion I are the other two music artists. Amp Live is in the middle and the music producer. Zumbi is the one on the left teaming up with Amp Live to deliver the hottest rhymes in the music industry. Recently Amp Live has been producing beats with live instruments to give an original feel to his work. Their music has been featured on Step-Up 3D, The Buried Life on MTV, CSI, and several other forms of media. Below is a message from the Zion I & The Grouch.com website, a track listing, and a teaser trailer for the tour to come that is "Zion I & The Grouch Are Heroes in the Healing of the NATION."
Zion I & The Grouch have been known to attract audiences from Reggae to Rock, their original work in composing music is the key to the diverse fan base.
__________________________________________________________________________________ At last! West Coast hip-hop stalwarts Zion I & The Grouch return with their sophomore collaborative effort, Heroes in the Healing of the Nation. The long-awaited follow-up to the group's 2006 critically acclaimed Heroes in the City of Dope could not arrive at a more fitting hour. This time around Z&G raise the stakes to expand the playing field from City to Nation, inviting listeners everywhere to join them on their quest in channeling their highest selves. Amp Live provides the bulk of the banging backdrops as Zumbi and The Grouch consciously kill it with a well versed ease.
Zion I & The Grouch have been leaders marching to the beat of their own 808's for some time now but the group suggests that we're all cut from the same cloth.
"Anyone changing other peoples lives for the better is a hero to me" explains The Grouch of the album's title. "People are going through a difficult transition these days," adds Zumbi. "We want this album to aid in that process."
